Because the world simply can not get enough Angry Birds, and even after 30 years, enough Star Wars – the two brands are about to collide. Yep, ‘Angry Birds Star Wars’ is headed to your iOS device, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone or Windows 8 on November 8th.
The game is reportedly a whole new game and not just, “Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters,” says Paul Southern, vice president of licensing and consumer products marketing for Lucasfilm Ltd. “They are characters in their own right.” An example is that the Red Bird will have a Luke Skywalker look.
It seems that this game will be a spinoff of the Angry Birds Space game that is a wholly different from the original Angry Birds by adding gravitational physics into the mix. The design will add Star Wars theming throughout as other Star Wars characters will be represented like Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi and the famously evil pigs will be Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and the “dark side”.
The release of this game falls on the heels of the successful release of the current iTunes store leader, Bad Piggies. There will be both free and paid versions.
And if you think there is a plethora of Angry Birds toys now, just wait till there are Star Wars versions.
