Flattus Maximus is Dead
The body of GWAR guitarist Cory Smoot was discovered on the band’s bus on Thursday after a show in Minneapolis. His GWAR character name was Flattus Maximus had been played by a number of band members over the years, but Smoot had filled the role since 2002.
GWAR is a long standing, very loud metal band, that was best known for their shows being more about the costumes, performance and stage setup than their music. Shows included audiences being bathed in fake blood and guts as the band members, all costumed and dressed as aliens, monsters and other creatures performed killings, decapitations and other wonderfully and disgustingly fun things.
Nickelback, they are not.
The cause of death is unknown.
