Hey Man, Nice Shot.

Derrill Rockwell had a red bird problem.  That damned bird was always harassing his cats.  So one early morning last October Rockwell spotted the bird about 90 feet from his back porch, sitting on a hill.  Rockwell grabbed his .22 rifle.

He shot at the bird, but he didn’t see it fly away.  But he did hear the moans of a person.

Turns out that Rockwell did shoot at a red bird, it was a woman with a red mohawk.  She was sitting on that hill when Rockwell shot her in the head.  He offered her a wet towel and drove her to the hospital.  But he told police he found her with the wound and had secretly thrown the rifle into the Colorado River.  He later recanted his story because his lawyer claims, he just couldn’t live with the guilt of the injury he’d inflicted on the woman.

Last week he was sentenced to five years probation for felony possession of a weapon by a prior offender (attempted burglary).  Other charges like tampering with evidence, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and false reporting were all dismissed.

The victim?  Her name hasn’t been released, and she left the area.  But police now believe that the woman, 29, was passed out from intoxication when she was shot and may have been under the influence of meth as a small, empty bag with methamphetamine was found in the area she was shot.

Meet Satan’s Two Good Friends

Jerod Reeves, 29, and Kimberly McCaffery, 35, are two really shitty people.(peet: no, not Kimber McCafferty, although that would be HI-larious)

They are the couple who have admitted to stealing money and possessions from a murder/suicide scene they found in the wilderness.

The pair – who claim to be homeless, without money and desperate – came across the awful scene of the frozen bodies of William Ahrold and his nine year old son, Jackson, near a park along the Colorado River.

Police believe that Ahrold shot and killed his son and then killed himself on December 17th.

Reeves and McCaffery are accused of not only finding the bodies and not reporting it, but also stealing the money, credit cards, an iPhone and a gun from the scene and then were on the run for a few days before being found in a Spokane, WA motel on Dec 23rd.

The most disturbing fact is the admission on Reeves part is that not only did he take the gun used in the murder/suicide, he actually used a hack saw to cut it away from the frozen hand of the father that was still holding it.

“I sawed them off with a hack saw,” Reeves said. “That was pretty crazy. I’m not really sure. I should have left that there.”

Both contend that their actions were born from their desperate situation and were only trying to do what was needed to survive.
