The KickAround is simply about talking soccer and all that implies.
Andy & Peter bring the Dallas area perspective of the game, but in a way familiar to The Ticket. The show gives sanctuary to the segment of the true Ticket P1 who also love soccer. Now, after 20 years, a place for them is found on Saturdays, 2-4.

Peter Welpton is a life long soccer fan with a 25 year radio career and somehow lucked into mixing the two into this weekly production. He has a real job, but spends his free time playing, writing and talking about soccer. (Dirty secret: the only reason he’s really doing this is to get an invite to Sturm’s annual English soccer trip)
Andy Swift is a soccer lifer who began his professional career as a TV reporter covering “futbol” before tackling management positions with the Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas), Major League Soccer, Dallas Cup, and FIFA. When taking time off from his soccer gigs, he spends too much time over-managing his Diamond Mind Baseball computer Geek-Ball league team.
(*Note* – All shows prior to 2018 have been pulled from the site. This was a space and cost savings measure. If there is a show you’re looking for, email us and we’ll find a way to get that file to you.)
This is the one where Andy & Peter attempt a historic, new radio bit – “Ask YOU anything”, and if getting to hear from Chet for the 1st time since the birth of little “AndyPeter” is all we got, it was worth it. Plus “The Zlatan Segment” and we remind you if paying $$$ for ICC matches is worth it.
This is the one where Andy & Peter – despite it literally being the deadest of all the days for soccer – manage to stuff a two hour show with world-class, top-notch soccer talking.
This is the one where Andy & Peter juggle all of the summer Cup finals happening on the same day, and find time to fawn over their favorite player in the whole wide world – Paxton Pomykal.
This is the one where Andy returns from his CONCACAF sabbatical to splash around in the glory that was USA beating France in the WWC quarterfinals. Plus some Gold Cup talk, and, a very special guest. Will Parchman (@WillParchman), noted high-brow soccer journalist with the Athletic, either sullies himself or increases the show’s credibility with his presence. You decide.
This is another one where Andy is out running around doing CONCACAF things and Peter is left alone to his own devices. So, to compensate he calls up a trio of soccer friends: Linda Hamilton, member of the USWNT that won the 1st World Cup, the coaching great Dave Dir and Buzz Carrick. Plus a special surprise call to Andy.
This is the one where Andy was out of town running around with this CONCACAF, fancy-pants cohorts – so the good Buzz Carrick sat in, talked the freak out over the USWNT 13-0 celebrations and how the rest of the tournament has gone so far, US Men’s Gold Cup preview, some FC Dallas updates and more.
This is the one where Andy & Peter discuss the Women’s World Cup, react to the US-U20 loss to Ecuador and react in amazement to the most wheels-off own goal that happens while they’re on the air.
This is the one where Andy & Peter return from hiatus, just in time for the TOTLIV Champions’ League Final… except the game was pretty meh. Plus they review their predictions for the previous PL season, catch up on all things FCD and talk about what they’ve liked and not liked from the U20-USMNT World Cup performances.
This is the one – the new “best episode, ever”, as the great Bob Sturm joins in for the first hour to talk about this last week of a great Premier League season. Bob also spends time talking about his recent trip to England and his now famous “seat in the Kop”. We try, for the 1st time, a FCD post game show, but result was so crappy, so was the post game show.
This is the one where Andy & Peter do another Sunday show because other stuff bumped them from their Saturday slot. Kinda like a landlord kicking you our of your place for a night because he’s leased it out for a party. Anyway – the ManCity/Liverpool tussle appears to be resolving itself, no one else wants to play in Champions’ League and Leeds does something almost unimaginable.
