The KickAround is simply about talking soccer and all that implies.
Andy & Peter bring the Dallas area perspective of the game, but in a way familiar to The Ticket. The show gives sanctuary to the segment of the true Ticket P1 who also love soccer. Now, after 20 years, a place for them is found on Saturdays, 2-4.

Peter Welpton is a life long soccer fan with a 25 year radio career and somehow lucked into mixing the two into this weekly production. He has a real job, but spends his free time playing, writing and talking about soccer. (Dirty secret: the only reason he’s really doing this is to get an invite to Sturm’s annual English soccer trip)
Andy Swift is a soccer lifer who began his professional career as a TV reporter covering “futbol” before tackling management positions with the Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas), Major League Soccer, Dallas Cup, and FIFA. When taking time off from his soccer gigs, he spends too much time over-managing his Diamond Mind Baseball computer Geek-Ball league team.
(*Note* – All shows prior to 2018 have been pulled from the site. This was a space and cost savings measure. If there is a show you’re looking for, email us and we’ll find a way to get that file to you.)
This is the one where Andy & Peter spend a segment talking with the great Mark Dodd, original goalkeeper of the Dallas Burn. He visits to discuss the great “MLS Shootout” – and provide his perspective of the experiment. Plus, they wrap up their review of Sunderland Til I Die, explain what’s going on with all the “DA news” and have one of those stupid “Mt Rushmore” conversations.
This is the one, another one, where the guys are each at their COVID-free homes. Andy & Peter start reviewing season 2 of Sunderland ‘Til I Die and reflect on the opening day of the ’96 Dallas Burn and what it meant to each of them. Also, because there just isn’t a lot of soccer to talk about and reminiscing is beginning to feel snoozy – its the debut of “The CookAround”.
This is the one where Andy has a technological disaster while trying to discuss Netflix’s “The English Game”. If you love radio broadcast meltdowns, this is a pretty good one. Also, the guys spend time reflecting and discussing the ’97 USOC Final, which they both were in attendance, and Andy tells stories about the Legend of Leonel.
This is the one where Andy & Peter are properly self-isolating, which means they are each doing the show remotely from their homes. They catch up on the latest news on when/if soccer returns, The Curious Case of Ronaldinho, review the great TOR! and Producer Sam presents “Peter Drop Tournament”.
This is the one where Andy & Peter attempt a soccer show depleted of all soccer being played. Instead content is ‘about soccer’ or ‘soccer related’. The guys catch up on the latest plans for how to resume the soccer calendar and the threat to teams and leagues. The Court of Allegiance hears adjudicates an application for a change of club and they talk to Ciaran Brennan from SI Games, makers of Football Manager and review G’olé the doc of the ’82 World Cup.
This is the one where Andy & Peter discuss all of the COVID19 fallout across global soccer/football, the likely resolutions to rescheduling or cancelations and the biggest worry – clubs going bust. Also, an early review of FC Dallas after two games, the frustrating trash fire that is USSF and the debut of “The Doo-doo Song”. Sorry about that.
This is the one that landed on Leap Year Day! The guys are back and it just happens to be the day the 25th anniversary of MLS kicked off. So, to celebrate MLS Employee #1, Dave Dir, was in studio to talk about those earliest days of both the league and the Dallas Burn. Some really good stories in here. Oh, and Liverpool lost.
This is the one where Andy, reportedly, is “at a wedding” (*wink*) so the great Steve Davis and Tyler Kern sat in with Peter for a soccer-talking “Thruple”. A lengthy discussion and breakdown of the ManCityBan news, along with a segment dedicated to the “Own Goal”. Plus some MLS25 talk and The Dribble.
This is the one where Andy and Peter discuss the big news that happened in soccer here in America last week – The new CBA, the lawsuit over Pro/Rel, and the resignation of Jay Berhalter are all topics that impact the sport in the homeland. Plus they catch up on the Premier League as it tries our a “winter break” of sorts.
This is the one where Andy & Peter test run their “Grand MLS+LigaMX Theory” across noted soccer journo Jon Arnold. They also attempt, and fail, at Ticket Theater for the US/Costa Rica friendly and also check out the long running list of records Liverpool stand to break on this very special season.
