The KickAround is simply about talking soccer and all that implies.
Andy & Peter bring the Dallas area perspective of the game, but in a way familiar to The Ticket. The show gives sanctuary to the segment of the true Ticket P1 who also love soccer. Now, after 20 years, a place for them is found on Saturdays, 2-4.

Peter Welpton is a life long soccer fan with a 25 year radio career and somehow lucked into mixing the two into this weekly production. He has a real job, but spends his free time playing, writing and talking about soccer. (Dirty secret: the only reason he’s really doing this is to get an invite to Sturm’s annual English soccer trip)
Andy Swift is a soccer lifer who began his professional career as a TV reporter covering “futbol” before tackling management positions with the Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas), Major League Soccer, Dallas Cup, and FIFA. When taking time off from his soccer gigs, he spends too much time over-managing his Diamond Mind Baseball computer Geek-Ball league team.
(*Note* – All shows prior to 2018 have been pulled from the site. This was a space and cost savings measure. If there is a show you’re looking for, email us and we’ll find a way to get that file to you.)
This is the one where Andy is off, again, on another “work trip” (don’t forget to witness his social media explosion of food & pub tweets!) so to fill in is the GREAT Steve Davis! The dean of soccer journalism in Dallas, and a good friend, it was fantastic to have his brain on the show. We hope it happens now with more regularity.
This is the one, the first one, of the new decade! Andy and Peter discuss which of CHE, ARS, TOT or MUN you would want to take over as manager, do we care about the FA Cup anymore and the bizarre story of the referee who mysteriously retired last year. Plus, is MLS 2020 just the start of another NASL?
This is the one where Andy and Peter are back together after way too long a time and spend FOUR segments catching up on all the Premier League holiday action, including Andy coming as close as ever to accepting Liverpool’s fate. Plus, that long lost Mike Rhyner/Sidekicks audio is found and played!
This is the one where the patriarch of The Ticket – Mike Rhyner – fills in for Andy. While there’s talk of Mike’s days as the PxP guy for the Sidekicks and MISL talk, an attempt at a game surround English Soccer Club names and Mike reviews Peter’s favorite soccer movie, “Victory” – the show gets bumped off the road by the breaking news of a fire at the under construction ballpark – the home of Mike’s favorite team the Texas Rangers.
This is the one where Andy & Peter do a short show but get in a lot of Premier League talk because everyone on the show were winners. Liverpool, Everton and ManU all won, some more dramatic than others. Plus some catch up on the news in MLS.
This is the one where Andy & Peter return after almost a month of getting preempted by SMU Football and Stars Hockey. Making a rare appearance is Bob Sturm as Peter attempts to get him admit Liverpool’s eventual championship. Plus lots of catching up on everything that has happened since the last show (Poch! Jose! Emry!) and just skip the last five minutes because the debut of “KickAround Theater” didn’t go very well. Apologies.
This is the one where Andy & Peter get all excited that maybe the results of the Premier Weekend were going to end up making a stir in the table, only to end right back where we started before Saturday morning. Plus a summation of the FCD season and producersam debuts a new game show.
This is the 200th one – Andy and Peter celebrate Pulisic’s first (three!) goals in the Premier League and why that is so important to the fate of humanity. It’s also the end of another FC Dallas season without a MLS Cup – Peter predictably is not happy and Andy plays the role of patient supporter of the current plan.
This is the one where Manchester United legends, Bryon Robson and Andy Cole, come in-studio for a visit and make Andy very nervous. Plus the show gets flipped with FC Dallas’ playoff game kicking off just after the show started and Andy & Peter finally get to review “Maradona” – the great documentary. (you really need to see it, available on HBO)
This is the one where Andy is gone, on one of his mysterious CONCACAF trips, and Buzz Carrick (@3rddegreenet) sits in for him. But the big item on the run sheet was the conversation with Paxton Pomykal, fresh from signing his new contract with FCD. Also, Dave Dir checks for some honest USMNT talk.
