David Christopher Norris, 31, was tooling around Maryland on Sunday afternoon and it was to be his final ride.
Police report that Norris was speeding excessively when he passed a car on the shoulder and as he did, a buzzard flew into his path impacting into Norris and his bike. This caused Norris to cross the center stripes of the road, hitting the curb, a utility pole and a fire hydrant – all while the giant bird was “attached” to Norris and his bike.
Norris, his bike and the bird all finally landed in a wooded area along the roadside.
The bird died instantly, Norris was pronouced dead later at the hospital. Police called it a “freakish accident” and think Norris’ speed was a factor.
