Apple Replacing 1st Gen Nanos

A reader of the site, Robert K, sent me a copy of a surprise letter he got from Apple.

They are replacing his first generation iPod Nano, for free, with a shiny, cool current gen version.

Why?  Cause there are reports the 1st gen battery as it ages can overheat and catch fire and users should stop using them ASAP.  These devices were made from in 2005 and 2006. Are either white or black and have a silver metal back.

In about six weeks users will get their new units.  If you have one, but haven’t registered it, you can find out if you’re eligible by putting the serial number into here.
